To ensure that your jewelry maintains its shine and perfection for as long as possible, it is important to take proper care of it. Keep your jewelry in a safe, dry place away from hard objects that may scratch or dent the metal. Do not wear any type of jewelry in a chlorinated pool. 

Solid gold and silver can withstand water, but it is best to avoid exposing them to chemicals, lotions, and cleaning products. Keep in mind that gold is a soft metal, so be cautious when handling heavy or hard objects while wearing gold rings.

Some people enjoy the natural patina that develops on brass and silver over time, but if you prefer the original shine, you can use a soft polishing cloth to restore it.

18K gold plate, which is made of 2.5 microns of 18K gold over brass, should be treated with care. Avoid wearing it while swimming or bathing, or exposing it to extreme temperatures. Limit its exposure to water or moisture, as the oxidation can tarnish the jewelry. Remove it when using cleaning products, applying beauty products, bathing, or washing your hands.

Vermeil, which is made of 3 microns of 14K gold over silver, should also be treated with similar care. The thicker plating of 14K gold in vermeil will help it last longer.

Gold fill, which is made of 10% 14K gold, is more resistant to moisture than vermeil and gold plate. All gold chains are made of gold fill to ensure durability. When purchasing a solid gold pendant it will be paired with a solid gold chain. Gold fill can be worn in the shower, but should not be worn in salt water or chlorine.

To prevent scratches, store your jewelry in a dry, dust-free place such as in its jewelry pouch or box, and keep it separate from other objects.
